Neck Pain: Causes and Treatments

Neck pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal complaints in the United States today. There are different causes of neck pain that may require different types of treatments.

In this virtual event, we will explore:

  • What are the common causes of neck pain?
  • How do we formulate a diagnosis/What does an exam and testing look like to make the correct diagnosis?
  • What are the common pain generators that cause neck pain?

Neck pain is a common complaint. Neck muscles can be strained from poor posture — whether it's leaning over your computer or hunching over your workbench. Osteoarthritis also is a common cause of neck pain.

  • Pain that's often worsened by holding your head in one place for long periods, such as when driving or working at a computer
  • Muscle tightness and spasms
  • Decreased ability to move your head
  • Headache

Dr. Stephen Szaro is licensed by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners and by the State of New Jersey and New York Board of Chiropractic Examiners. He currently holds certifications in Graston Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization and Active Release Techniques. Dr. Szaro also has a significant interest in rehabilitation, corrective exercise, and functional taping for musculoskeletal injuries including the KinesioTaping Method and Specific Proprioceptive Response Taping (SPRT).

Dr. Stephen also has extensive training in treating patients with intervertebral disc syndromes and is certified in McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy, and Kennedy Spinal Decompression Therapy.
